I actually think that Harry have learned plenty of "Life is not 
fair" BEFORE he came to Hogwarts. You know, sleeping in the 
cupboard, cooking for Dursleys, listening to their insults, not 
having mom and dad to care for him and love him.

I don't think he needs any MORE favours like that from Dumbledore. 
Lesson learned, let's move on, I'd say.
