Now this is a scenario I find very likely.  I can also easily see 
the "mirror image," especially given JKR's hints - i.e. "Snape is in 
a situation where his hatred of Harry flares at the wrong moment.  
Unable to overcome his bitterness, he does something that results in 
yet another debacle, perhaps his own death."  Following this will be 
another sorrowful explanation from DD and another sad confession that 
he felt Snape could overcome..., yada, yada.  Harry goes away 
pondering a philosophical lesson about how you ruin your life by 
holding on to hatred.
