Tonks here:
I AGREE!  That is what I have been trying to say. Snape is a bit on 
the nasty side, but he is not evil. And being curt and no nonsense 
is not the same as abuse. We can't have Neville blow up the whole 
castle after all. And a student's postion is to act in a respectful 
manner regardless of his feeling. That is just being civilized after 
all.

I know that some of the posters here are responding from a position 
of having been abused themeselves in the past. I think that it is 
hard for them to see past that to the point that you are making, and 
they maybe never will.
