The point then would not be curing Snape, Pippin. The point will be 
effective "payback" and I would argue that Harry saving Snape would 
BE effective payback, since Snape's pride will BE hurt.

I will NEVER advocate revenge in RL, but  some kind of revenge in 
fiction - sure.

Well, it looks like Snape's "crimes" are not those which are 
punishable under WW law, they are more, I'd say crimes of morality.
