Ginger quotes Prof. Dumbledore:

"My own brother, Aberforth, was prosecuted for performing
inappropriate charms on a goat. It was all over the papers, but did
Aberforth hide? No, he did not! He held his head high and went
about his business as usual! Of course, I'm not entirely sure he can
read, so that might not have been bravery..."

US paperback edition, p. 454.

Dumbledore expresses doubt about Abie's literacy. He doesn't really
say one way or the other.

Ginger, who thinks that Krum as the next DADA teacher would be
interesting.
