I also really like this theory. And I wonder about the same things
Annemehr does. I wonder -- if this theory is true -- if after GH,
when the DE's did not die or suffer any physical side effects, if
they thought "hey, maybe LV was lying when he said our lives were so
closely tied to his wellbeing -- but look -- he is either dead or
near death, but we are fine." If this thinking prevailed it would
explain why they did not go look for him. This allowed them to get
complacent. It maybe allowed some, like Malfoy for example, to
think that the power he felt as a DE was really his own power, and
not that of LV. I agree that the term "Death Eater" has some meaning
to it more than just that it sounds really bad and evil.
