I think Occlumency is like blocking hypnosis. It is using your mind 
to blocking someone from being able to hypnotize you. Thought 
blocking basically. Instead of being able to free associate one has 
control of ones thoughts and the places in the mind that can be 
accessible through hypnosis. What DD is able to do is like a form of 
hypnosis where you just talk to the person like a normal 
conversation. But it isn't a normal conversation; a skilled 
practitioner can put the other person into a trance without their 
knowing it, and do what they have to do with the person's 
subconscious mind. All the while the person doesn't know it is 
happening. Occlumency blocks this. Also I think that Occlumency 
gives a person the ability to block evil thoughts and so called *the 
devil made me do it* impulses.
