This is the first time I've given any thought to this subject, but now
that I have.....

It occurs to me that Petunia's dislike of anything and everything magical
may stem from more than just sibling jealousy.  

We know from Harry's trips down memory lane that Sirius was a handsome
fellow indeed.  If James *did* take Sirius along, it's very possible that
Petunia fell for Sirius and was rejected...or even that she fell for James
himself.  How galling would it then be to watch her sister fall in love
and marry?  Sounds like a great source of the deep well of bitterness we
see in Petunia.
