I don't think Draco does want to be friends with Harry?  He did 
want to get aquainted with him at first, but Harry put a stop to that 
real quick.  Harry dissed Draco and now Draco wants to make Harry's 
life as miserable as he can.  There is probably a little jealously on
 Draco's part as well--look at what Harry's accommplished, on his own 
without family help!  Little Mr. Malfoy, who thinks the world revolves 
around him, has had a rude awakening!
