Once again I'm going to chime in here.  What then would make the TT different 
from the Pensieve???  Hermione participates in class, or else she wouldn't have 
home work from her additional classes.  She couldn't take exams if she wasn't 
part of the class and just "watching them" no one would know she was ever even 
in the class!  Does this make sense?  The only rule I could see that could 
apply and make since in this situation, is that the TT maybe only lets you go 
back in time during the current day.  Hermione went back in time to her classes everyday, I don't believe there is any reference to her going back a few days in time.  This is the only thing I could think of that would make since.  The whole "not being able to change time" thing just doesn't cut it for me.  But that's just my opinon.
