It's possible I suppose but I doubt it.  Lily reminded me quite
forcibly of Hermione in that scene.  She defends Snape like Hermione
defends the house elves: as a part of an abstract social justice that
doesn't actually see the person/elf in front of her.  Her reaction to
being called the "m" word is quite normal and realistic.  

If she ever did try to befriend Snape, it was probably with the same
good-intentioned obtuseness that Hermione used with Winky in GoF. And
Snape probably responded with the same hostility.  No one likes to be
considered someone's personal crusade.
