I think you're gonna be dissapointed.  I figure the scene's 
significance was in the pathos of Harry seeing Neville ( an orphan 
for all intents and purposes) taking this bit of garbage as a 
memento of his mother.  The action is all the more poignant because 
that is all there is to it.
