   That's if you go by the spell, but the spell isn't a good reason for the ministry.... Petunia and Vernon ARE the only relatives.

What does the ministry have to do with it?  Wasn't DD who decided what to do with Harry.  It was DD who sealed the deal so to speak by placing Harry with Petunia.  Otherwise Lily's charm on Harry would have been for naught.  So Harry had to go to Petunia but that does not rule out a "Alice Potter".  I am not saying I completely buy it but I like it.  But if the MOM had anything to do with Harry going to Petunia, I missed it so please correct me.
