Toto: Once again, you assume something, that Hermione did that for 
*punishment*. She didn't. When Malfoy bothers her, she does not 
punish him, and so on... What Hermione did was a preventive measure: 
If there is a betrayer, they would know who it is, and be able to 
remove that person from the D.A. Hence, she couldn't warn them, as 
it would have given them a chance to take off the hex.
