SSSusan:
Presumably because it may entail his losing power and no longer 
being in control, I would guess.  I mean, while it appears that many 
in the WW believe in some sort of survival after death, as you put 
it, we're not really given any glimpse about how it WORKS.  Maybe 
Voldy doesn't care for what he's heard or what is speculated about 
it.
