In support of that idea, IRRC, there have been students in other 
houses that Harry hasn't known either.  But, stepping out of the 
story a bit, is there a reason that JKR has Hermione tell Harry the 
name?  It would be as easy to have Harry know his name, "and Harry 
recognised Theodore Nott reading the Quibbler."
