I never thought of the possibility that Snape made Crabbe do lines.  
That's an interesting thought.  And if he did, it was probably in 
the line of it costing the team points, chance to win, etc.

I have wondered, if Crabbe wrote lines with The Quill, but kept 
quiet..in the code of the schoolboy tradition.  But I like your idea 
better.
