I don't have the book to hand, but I'm pretty sure this was only in
the film. In
the novel, the two of them have a fight. I'd say that no, Lucius
probably
doesn't have to work. Inherited wealth and investments would make
sure he
didn't. At the same time, if the WW works like ours economically,
he's
probably on some board of directors or another because of owning a
majority
of shares in something (broomsticks, perhaps? :-D).
