bboyminn:

If you think about it Bonnie, muggles aren't totally oblivious to
wizards and witches. Our history is filled with them, as is our
literature and legends (folklore, fairytale, Myths, etc...). Every
Holloween we dress up our stores and houses with witches and black
cats. In New Orleans there are may magic and VooDoo shops where you
can by amulets, potions, and other magic paraphernalia. We see
impossible to believe stage magic shows. In a sense magic is all
around us, BUT we don't take it seriously.

So, in a way, we are aware of the magic world, but as has been implied
by more than one wizard in the books, we muggles go to very great
length to deny the reality of magic.

At the same time, while we think we know about witches, wizards,
Goblin, and Ghouls, we see from JKR's books that our view is just
about as distorted and the wizards view of the muggle world.

Just a thought.
