But look what Draco was doing. He was offering to use his influence
for Snape. Can't you just see it now, 6th year Draco saunters in to
the Headmaster's office, "See here, Snape. I put you in this job, I
can kick you out. Either make those changes I told you about or else!"
If anything, Draco was acting like Umbridge Junior and Snape knew
exactly what was going on. He managed to accept the praise(?) and
dismiss it at the same time.
