Fitzov:

I agree that he is dead, and that the term 'Little Prince' probably relates to his status as his mother's favourite son.  However, it doesn't stop us hearing more about his back story.  The date of his death coinciding with Harry's birth is too great a coincidence to ignore.  In my theory, he is the Hog's Head eavesdropper and paid 
with his life for being a double-agent.
