Hi, my name is Connie. I am a new member and a long time Harry 
Potter fan.  

I agree with Lori.  I have been thinking along that line for some 
time.  If Snape use to be (or maybe still is) somehow connected to 
Voldemort (even if he isn't loyal to Voldemort) and worries that 
Voldemort will know that Snape truly wants to protect Harry, then 
he has to mask his true feelings with feelings of hate and disgust, so Voldemort won't be able to pick up on it. I suspect that Snape 
is a spy for the Order - one reason why Dumbledore trusts him.
