I've seen it suggested that DD hired Lupin at this particular time 
because Black had escaped. As an Order member he could be an extra-
special pair of hands. This, of course, presumes that DD thought 
Black was guilty and Lupin was trustworthy.


As a side note: we're told Lockhart was the only candidate; and we're 
told Snape applies every year. Which one isn't true?
