One thing we learned in OotP is that Harry isn't the only person who bears a
strong resemblance to one of his parents. Neville Longbottom looks enough
like his mother that Harry recognized her in a picture. So it may be
another case of Snape's having someone from his past (for good or ill)
looking back at him in class all year.
