Well, to Apparate you just need to step outside the front gate; it
wouldn't be that hard to do. So, either it takes place just outside
the grounds, or in Hogsmead.
I suspect that once they have the basic theoretical principles down,
they start by just Apparating five feet or so, then gradually extent
the distance.
Apparently there are several variables that must be considered when
Apparating, I vaguely remember reading that the phases of the moon
must be considered to accurately reach your precise destination. While
I'm sure I read it, I've never been able to track that reference down
again.
In any event, I'm very eager for Apparation classes to take place so I
can learn all the details.
