I agree with Larry - it was what I was trying to say in my last 
post but was unable to articulate (am getting close to end of night 
shift!). I also think that as the story is told from Harry's point 
of view, it is natural for him to want to keep this relationship 
'private' from the reader (sorry if this sounds weird - perhaps 
said nightshift is getting to me...).
