True. And in PS/SS, when Harry is in the library under the
invisibility cloak, he hears Filch tell Snape that someone is in the
Restricted Section. Filch addresses Snape formally and calls him
"Professor". They have no idea anyone is around and surely this
would be a time for them to address each other in a more familiar
fashion.
I don't think it adds anything to the book for Filch to turn out to
be Tobias Snape. What would be the point? As a revelation it would
just be tossed out with no plot attached to it. I think it's
fan-overkill.
