Battle the most powerful wizard in the world and then try to get out
of a castle jam packed with other very powerful wizards and do it
without aperation? I wouldn't want to attempt it. It would take a very
brave man to try such a thing, and Snape after all is not a
Gryffindor. Better to wait until Dumbledore is old sick and without a
wand.
