Good point.  I think here there's a clear break between the needs of 
the story and the possibilities of the prophecy.  It's possible to 
read "the one with the power to kill the Dark Lord approaches" as 
either "the ONLY one" or "the one who approaches, but there are 
others," but it's most likely that the prophecy is exclusive.
