Considering he has enough potions ability to be a professor without crib 
notes, I doubt it. He's a bully as a teacher, but he at the very least knows 
what he's doing. I also think, considering his reaction to Harry's cheating 
especially, that he has too much pride to do so himself.

But Snape talks in the end about James using his own curses against him, 
right?
