I think DD means two people we saw, but didn't know we saw: himself and
Harry. They understood what was being said in the memories about the
Gaunts.
Another possibility just crossed my mind. Snape gave Harry a specific
look in the dueling scene. Now, it would make sense that Snape had
heard Parseltounge before from LV without understanding it. Just like
I'd know French if I heard it, but wouldn't understand it. But what if
Snape speaks it as well? (Parseltongue, not French.)
