In a way, yes, that is what I am, saying. But I am not saying he
intended to sacrifice himself. He fully expected Draco to choose not
to kill him. (Correctly, in my opinion). But the gesture was necessary
to make Draco see this for himself. I think, given a minute or two
more, Dumbledore would have had his wand back and Draco on his way
into hiding.
Now, if he suspected there were Death Eaters in the school, it was a
risky move, since someone else might happen along during the
conversation. (As, in fact, several someone elses did.) But still not
guaranteed to end in death. There were Order members about as well,
after all.
