After reading this post I went back and re-read the scene where 
I believe Ginny relays to Harry what happened during the big 
battle scene.  <SNIP>
So, the question is were they able to survive the battle because 
of "Felix" or because the blond DE deliberately didn't hit them?

I think it had to do more with the potion
than anything. I doubt that DE is a spy for the order. Well except with the very very possible exception but I doubt it. DE are not going
to be spies for the order. There trying to kill them, let's not forget. Well those are my thoughts on that topic.
