Yep, me too. 

We should also bear in mind that in JKR's mind, the story is 
complete. So, it's not even that Lupin will refuse to change (future 
tense), but that (in her head), he has already done so. So, one of 
her favorite characters is a person who betrayed his best friends and 
their baby boy and condemned his other best friend to a lifetime in 
Azkaban, and who *she knows* hasn't the courage or heart to change.
