I ask myself that every day! He knows the kid has ADHD, how can he 
expect him to do this sort of assignment without help....oops. wrong 
teacher, wrong kid.

Potioncat:
Snow tackled LV, I'll try potions.

Why? Because he's an exceptonal Potion Maker but he's a horrible 
teacher.  He lectures, demonstrates, explains, assigns reading and 
papers and he thinks the kids ought to get it. Many of them do. If 
they don't, it's their fault. 

>From Professor Snape's PoV, it's their fault because they aren't 
paying attention, they don't care, they don't follow directions. And 
he has proof, he sees it every day. It would never occur to him to do 
anything different. He's done his part, they have to do theirs. From 
his PoV, of course.

Someone, I don't know who, once wrote an article about JKR and 
education. The writer believed JKR was showing bad teachers on 
purpose in the HP series as a statement about current education.
