hmm quick calculation, Tom was born 1927 yes? then Grindelwald was 
defeated the year after he graduated....

This could be an interesting clue we missed. Dumbledore found Tom 
Riddle out for a sneaky Dark Arts student, and a year later he 
defeats the Bad dude of the time... Maybe that is connected in some 
way.

Something that DD realised through having been Toms teacher was the 
answer to Grindewalds downfall? 

or is 1927 the wrong date?
