I would think that the ultimate example of the "bad" Gryffindor would 
be Wormtail.  Nothing that Percy has done so far can compare to 
Wormtail's betrayal of the Potters.  While one could argue that Percy 
betrayed his family (I wouldn't argue that, but one could), 
his "betrayal" was not the direct cause of anyone's death.

I do agree with Charlotte that a need to be admired seems to be 
present in many of the Gryffindors introduced.  No doubt Wormtail 
thought that betraying the Potters would make him Voldy's right-hand 
man (sorry, no pun intended), in a position to be admired by the 
other DEs, and the wizarding world as a whole when Voldy finally 
succeeded in taking over.
