JKR *never* made a vampire reference in any way related to Snape. And
yes I can hear you in the back shouting, "What about that essay?" Well
what about it? A teacher of DADA assigns an essay on a "dark
creature." Oooh. Forshadowing. Yes. Only no.

So now it's mirrors is it? Vampires aren't "repelled" by mirrors, they
just can't see themselves in them.
