This scenario is entirely possible, but it depends on how skilled an 
occlumens is Snape (maybe he didn't "turn on" the occlumens?) 
relative to Voldemort's legilimency.

In the interests of keeping myself sane, I'll go along with you on 
this, Pippin, until JRK proves otherwise.
