Actually she NEVER said that she was inspired by LOTR ever. 
Here's exactly what she said about the LOTR books:

JKR:  I read it when I was about twenty, I think, and I liked it a lot though I've never
re-read it, which is revealing (usually with my favourite books I re-read them endlessly)
but he created a whole mythology, an incredible achievement.

She had mentioned her favorite books and authors that inspired her a lot in interviews
before, such as Jane Austin, A Tale of Two Cities, Lolita, The Little White horse, I
capture the castle, Agatha Christie, E. Nesbit...etc. Yet she NEVER cite Tolkien nor LOTR
as her insipration or person favorite what so ever.  Just to make that clear.
