That's wouldn't be enough for me to forgive Marrietta,
thinking it would have a good outcome is not enough,
she also needs to be correct. I think that is highly 
unlikely, people have been sent to the chair with
less certainty.

When I first read the books I wondered if that could be a British 
thing about not asking personal questions. In the Sherlock Holmes 
stories the great detective  worked with Dr. Watson for over 10 
years and were best friend and then one day Holmes (nobody ever 
dared call him Sherlock) casually mentioned that he had a brother 
named Mycroft who was even more brilliant than he was. Dr. Watson 
hadn't heard even a hint of this before.
