I'm with you.  I'm not sure exactly what is up with
Percy, and I admit it.  But I identify with him
strongly.  I'm not like him, in most ways (except the
no-sense-of-humor and maybe the getting-picked-on; I
have no ambition) but I have a soft spot for him. 
He's my favorite.

But he went from three-dimension to two-dimensional
and  we got most of our information about him
second-hand.  It sent up flags for me, and I'd be
disappointed if there didn't turn out to be anything
to it.  It'd be Percy going from a rounded character
to a flat one.
