I agree that it's not a likely plot point from what JKR has said. 
BUT there's got to be a good reason why we don't know the name of 
Tom Riddle's mother, and then, so little about her.  Was Marvolo her 
father's name--first or last?  There's got to be something about the 
Marvolo--we only learned about the Riddles and nothing about Tom's 
maternal and magical relatives.

Yes, it's time to learn more about the circumstances of the birth of 
Tom Riddle.
