Ok.  We know that there is a bond between Harry and LV. So LV put 
part of himself into Harry.  So what LV did was to come up with a 
method that if anyone tries to AK him he is able to put his soul 
into that person.  Would explain why DD wouldn't try to AK him.  Not 
a total answer, but I don't know what else to add.  Any helpers?
