Umbridge did not try to kill Harry. She was going to Crucio  him.

Lockhart was going to erase his and Ron's memories, and then leave  them to
die in the tunnels below Hogwarts. So he *was* trying to kill  them.

But it doesn't sound very nice.  And sorry, but Umbridge 
did try to kill him, unless of course having 
dementor's sent to your town to hunt you 
down and kiss you, is your idea of a hot date.  =)
