Just to add, from PoA (end of chapter 'Hermione's Secret' pg. 301 in 
Bloomsbury),`'I knew I could do it this time,' said Harry, ` because 
I'd already done it? Does that make sense?'' Hermione replies that 
she doesn't know.

If Hermione doesn't get it when she`s been using it for the whole 
year, what hope have we got?!
