I think Dumbledore was crying because he has a genuine affection for 
Harry. He knows that he has just given Harry an incredible burden. 
At an age when other boys are excited at the responsibility of being 
a school prefect, Harry is given the responsibility to save the 
world. I thought that whole passage was very touching, and teared up 
a bit myself.
