Being brave and being an idiot are not incompatible states, they can
very often be found together.

But it's easy to say the mighty Potions Master at Hogwarts was a
coward for being afraid of Harry, a mere student, and not allowing him
to protect his most secret memories too.

Yes, and he didn't give a damn about Harry's humiliation, in fact he
reveled in it.
