If you go to the the website for the United States Conference of 
Catholic Bishops:
www.usccb.org
and look for the movie review section, they give extremely detailed 
reviews of the HP films and of JKR's characters and decide that they 
pose no threat to Catholic children. Although they are not talking of 
the books, the reviewers have obviously read them as well as seen the 
films and are very impartial in their judgements.
