**** It's a good theory, but then why did Dumbledore's picture 
magically appear?  And then their is the phoenix song at the end.  
Plus in interviews JKR has said things like that she keeps killing her 
favorite members of the Order and that Harry would have to face things 
alone.  

So I feel that Dumbledore is indeed dead sadly.  Plus I don't believe 
that Wormtail is an accomplished enough wizard to get through all the 
hazards in route to the locket Horcrux.
